Welcome UNCP First-Gen Braves! GenONE is a student success program that supports the academic, social and professional development of first-generation students through resources, programs and success coaching. In Fall 2021, over 21% of UNCP students reported that they are first-generation on their most recent FAFSA.
GenONE has defined the term “first-generation college student” as a person that is the first in their family to attend college and/or neither parent or guardian graduated from a four year institution. This definition is in coordination with the federal definition used from TRIO and Pell Grant eligibility programs.
GenONE provides opportunities to our first-gen Braves by providing the support and guidance needed to be a competitive scholar so they are just as successful as their peers. We strive to support any student that self-identifies as having little to no knowledge of college experiences and may need additional support or resources navigating life as a college student. To be enrolled in GenONE, students self identified with us directly or on their most recent FAFSA.
GenONE programs and resources are open to all first-generation students at any time. #BraveToBeFirst #GenONE
