Residency Determination
The NC Residency Determination Service (RDS) determines residency for tuition purposes for all UNC System universities. If you are an undergraduate student applying for admission and claiming in-state residency for tuition purposes, you must visit NCresidency.org to verify your residency.
Please note that the process could take up to 25 days to complete, so starting early is in your best interest.
If you have already completed the residency verification process and obtained your Residency Certification Number (RCN), you can enter your RCN when filling out your application. If you do not already have your RCH, you may submit your application and then come back and enter your RCN once you have it. It is your responsibility to complete the Residency Determination Process in a timely manner.
For additional information visit our Residency FAQ page.

College Credit
If you received college credit while away, please send an official transcript from each college you attended since leaving UNCP. Additionally, if you have taken any CLEP test, please submit your official test scores to Undergraduate Admissions for evaluation. For information concerning college credit, please contact the Admissions office at 910.521.6262.
As a readmit transfer student, it is helpful to know which classes will transfer back to UNCP. Only courses of a "C" or better can be transferred. You can use the Transfer Course Equivalency Tool to see what courses transfer.

Returning after Academic Probation
A student who wishes to be readmitted who was on academic probation at the end of their last semester will be on academic probation the semester that they readmit.
Students will not need to complete an academic appeal but they will need to complete a financial aid appeal. You can complete a financial aid appeal here:
-
Returning after Academic Dismissal or Academic Suspension
A student who wishes to be readmitted after an academic suspension or dismissal must appeal to the Suspension Appeals Committee. Specific deadlines for each term can be found on the Web sites of the Center for Student Success (CSS) and the office of Financial Aid.
Appeals are coordinated by the staff of the Center for Student Success. Individuals wishing to appeal a suspension should contact CSS to schedule a meeting with a counselor to develop an appeals packet. Complete appeal packets include, at a minimum, a letter of appeal outlining circumstances and causes that affected your academic success, an Academic Success Contract, and any supporting documents of personal/medical reasons for performance.
No appeals will be heard if received after each specific deadline, and the decision of the Suspension Appeals Committee is final.
Students whose appeal has been denied may not appeal again unless there has been a material change to their academic record. Students whose appeal has been approved must participate in the Center for Student Success’ services for students. Failure to participate could result in immediate Academic Dismissal at the end of the semester.
You can complete an academic and or/financial aid appeal here:
