Each year the Department of Geology and Geography bestows awards to outstanding students. Descriptions of the awards and past recipients are provided below.
Thomas E. and Cheryl E. Ross Scholarship:
Established by Professor Emeritus Thomas Ross, this scholarship is awarded in the spring each year by the Department of Geology and Geography to a student focusing on Geography (either as a track in the Geo-Environmental Studies major or a Geography minor) or who participates on the UNCP team for the World Geography Bowl.
Requirements:
- A minimum GPA of 2.5
- Completed at least six semester hours of geography courses
- Must not be graduating in the current semester
- Recipient must participate in the NC Geography Bowl the following Fall Semester
The recipient is announced in the Spring of each year.
