About
Abby Nance is an Assistant Professor of Psychology. She earned a doctorate in Applied Social and Community Psychology at North Carolina State University in 2021, an MFA in Creative Writing from Texas State University in 2007 and a BA from Warren Wilson College. She taught college composition and journalism courses for a decade prior to seeking a doctoral degree. Her research interests focus on emerging adults in the classroom and include belongingness and other social emotional skills that mitigate the academic impact of adversity in childhood. Dr. Nance joined UNCP in Fall 2020. She currently teaches Research Methods Capstone, Health Psychology, and Personality Theories.
