About
Dr. Chiuchu (Melody) Chuang is an immigrant from Taiwan. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the National Taiwan University, and both of her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Austin. Her specialty is early childhood education. Currently, she is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
Before teaching at UNCP, Dr. Chuang served as an assistant professor and the Department Chair of Early Childhood Education and Care at the Hwa-I University in Taiwan, an adjunct professor at the University of Houston-Victoria, and an assistant professor at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Dr. Chuang holds teacher licenses in both TX and NC, including K-12 Special Education, EC-4 (TX), and K-6 (NC). She taught typical students at the UH-Charter School, as well as children with special needs at the Monarch School, a therapeutic school.
Dr. Chuang’s research interests include supporting the learning and development of young children, homeschooling, the historical and cultural impacts on indigenous tribes both in America and Taiwan, and the contributive factors to the success of people with diverse backgrounds.
Dr. Chuang is a people person and likes to serve as possible. She enjoys spending time with family and friends.
