About
Dr. Jacobs is a Full Professor and Chairs AIS at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP). She holds a PhD in Social Welfare with an emphasis in Child Welfare policy from the University of Chicago. She is the co-editor of American Indian Women of Proud Nations: Essays on History, Language, and Education (Peter Lang, 2016), the primary editor of Upon Her Shoulders: Southeastern Native Women Share Their Stories of Justice, Spirit, and Community (Blair Publishing, June, 2022),and a co-editor for American Indian Women of Proud Nations Second Edition: Essays on History, Language, Healing, and Education, (Peter Lang, 2024). She has authored articles in The North Carolina Medical Journal, Native South, The Journal on Excellence in College Teaching, Reflections: A Social Work Narrative Journal, Childcare in Practice, The Journal of Social Service Research, Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services. She has also authored book sections in Major Problems in American Indian History, 3rd Edition (Cengage,2015); Native and African Americans (Albatross, 2005); Major Problems in American Indian History. 2nd Edition (Cengage, 2001); Native Chicago (2nd ed.) (McNaughton & Gunn, 2001); Two Spirit People: American Indian Lesbian Women and Gay men (Haworth Press, 1997).
