Jim Hyler
About
Jim Hyler is a native of Danville, Virginia and grew up on a small family tobacco farm nearby. He moved to North Carolina after graduating from Virginia Tech. As a first generation college student, he earned his degree in accounting in 1970. Hyler went on to enjoy a successful career in public accounting, banking, and advisory work for 50 plus years.
Out of college, Mr. Hyler was recruited by Ernst & Ernst in Winston-Salem and specialized in bank auditing. In 1980, he moved to First Citizens Bank as chief financial officer. During his tenure with the bank, he served as president, chief operating officer and vice chairman. Hyler then joined Investors Management Corporation as Managing Director before retiring in 2016.
Mr. Hyler is committed to public service, particularly in healthcare and economic development. He has served as a board member of Rex Healthcare, UNC Health Care System, Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority, North Carolina Rural Center, North Carolina Chamber and Duke Energy. Currently, Mr. Hyler serves on the Board of Directors for Investors Management Corporation, Fleet Feet Sports, RiseMark Holdings, LLC, Peter Millar, LLC, and Orlando Health.
First introduced to golf during college, Mr. Hyler became an avid golfer and has remained involved with the sport. He served on the United States Golf Association Executive Committee from 2004 to 2011, elected as president in 2010-2011. He was instrumental in orchestrating successful U.S. Opens at Pinehurst Resort, Course No. 2 during his tenure.
Mr. Hyler is married to Natalie Hyler. With their two boxers, they reside in Asheville, NC with a home also in Pinehurst.
