About
Dr. Jody Thomas is a Native of Robeson County, NC and a member of the Lumbee Tribe of NC. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a long history of working with at-risk youth as well as adults suffering from depression and anxiety. He has provided Mental Health services, training, consultation and supervision to the community and professionals since 2008. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Social Work Department at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He completed his Bachelor of Social Work from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He obtained his Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. Most recently he received his Doctor of Social Work from Capella University. His dissertation is titled "NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBE MEMBER PERCEPTIONS ABOUT COMMUNITY VIOLENCE: AN APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY". His future areas of interest include community violence, historical trauma and community development.
