About

Dr. Josiah Marineau is an associate professor of political science at UNC-Pembroke. He teaches courses in international relations and comparative politics, including African Politics, American Foreign Policy, Theories of International Relations, Model United Nations, Model Arab League, and Introduction to Political Science. His research has focused on foreign aid in Africa, terrorism, and the relationship between the South Caucasus and Russia. He has conducted fieldwork in several African countries, including Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda, Malawi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in addition to field visits to the country of Georgia to interview Russians who fled their country following the onset of the Russo-Ukrainian war. His ongoing research includes looking at the impact of the Russo-Ukrainian war on Russian soft power, the impact of the Russo-Ukrainian war on the politics of the South Caucasus, and the impact of Russian emigres on the politics of Georgia
