About
Kelly Charlton is a Professor and Department Chair for the Psychology Department. She has been at UNCP since August of 2000. She earned her Master’s degree from California State University Stanislaus and her PhD from University of Missouri. Dr. Charlton regularly mentors undergraduate research assistants (many of whom have continued on to graduate school). Most recently, this work focuses on helping behavior, predicting belief in pseudoscience, social support from animal companionship and the consequences of revealing personal information during a job interview. Dr. Charlton currently teaches Career and Professional Perspectives in Psychology, Social Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Psychology and Law and Introduction to Psychology. In her spare time, one of Dr. Charlton's hobbies is Lampwork (melting glass into beads and other small items).
