About
Lt Col Daran Linthicum is the commander of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 607 at Fayetteville State University with crosstown schools of Campbell University, Methodist University and
UNC Pembroke He is responsible for the recruiting, educating and training of over 50 cadets aspiring to become officers in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. Lt Col Linthicum is also the chair for the Department of Aerospace Studies and teaches national security studies, the profession of arms, and leadership ethics.
Lt Col Linthicum enlisted in the United States Army in 2000 and served as an imagery analyst apart of 319th Military Intelligence Battalion (Operations) (Airborne) at Ft. Bragg, NC. He was commissioned in 2008 from the ROTC program at Fayetteville State University and received a degree in Geography as well from the university. Lt Col Linthicum is a career Intelligence officer with multiple assignment throughout his time in the U.S. Air Force. He has completed operational assignments at intelligence centers, collection sites, flying squadrons, and Major Command staff elements as well as multiple deployments.
Some of Lt Col Linthicum’s recent assignments have been as the Director of Intelligence for a Joint Cyber Task Force under the Cyber National Mission Force, United States Cyber Command. Lt Col Linthicum was dual-hatted as the Director of Operations for the 301st Intelligence Squadron and as the Operations Officer for the Strategic Operations Section of the National Security Agency Alaska, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. He was the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Director for Combine Joint Task Force-INHERENT RESOLVE directing all airborne ISR assets in Iraqi and Syria. Prior to his current assignment, he was the ISR Deputy Chief of the Command, Control, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division, Plans, Programs and Requirements Directorate, Headquarters Air Combat Command. There he directed the modernization and sustainment of the Air Force Distributed
Common Ground System (DCGS) Weapon System as well as multiple other battlespace awareness, multi-domain operations programs, experimentation activities and technology initiatives including the Extended Tether Program global communication enterprise.
