Pat Willoughby was born and raised in Robeson County. She graduated from UNCP (then Pembroke State University) in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education.

In high school, Ms. Willoughby played varsity basketball, earning all-conference and all-state recognitions. In 2011, she was inducted into the Robeson County Hall of Fame.

Ms. Willoughby was a devoted teacher and coach in Robeson County for 10 years. While teaching, she coached varsity volleyball, basketball, and softball. In 1986, she moved to Durham, NC, with her husband, Paul, where they owned and operated PPR Foods, LLC, overseeing six McDonald’s franchises.

In addition to being a successful business owner, Ms. Willoughby is committed to public service, including service on the Chapel Hill Ronald McDonald House Committee. She remains dedicated to her alma mater, currently serving as vice-chair of the UNCP Foundation Board, supporting the university through the naming of the football stadium press box and softball field and the establishment of the Tunney Brooks Endowed Scholarship for a deserving student-athlete from Robeson County. She is also a longtime Braves Club member.

Ms. Willoughby and her husband reside in North Myrtle Beach, SC. They have one son, Rex, a daughter-in-law, Kelli, and three grandchildren, Ty, Leah, and Reese.
