About
Sarah Parker is a professional oboist and educator based in Wilmington, NC, with extensive experience in both performance and teaching. Sarah holds the Principal Oboe position with the Wilmington Symphony and performs regularly with the Long Bay Symphony and Fayetteville Symphony.
In addition to her performance work, she maintains an active teaching studio, providing individualized instruction to oboists of varying skill levels. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the development of technical proficiency, efficient practice strategies, and strong sight-reading skills, with a focus on helping students become self-directed learners.
In addition to her private teaching, Sarah has conducted masterclasses and workshops at institutions such as UNCSA, UNCG, and ECU. She also operates an online oboe reed shop, Sarah Parker Oboe Reeds, where she crafts reeds for oboists around the world.
Sarah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from East Carolina University. Her education includes training under notable oboists, including Bo Newsome, Randall Ellis, Karen Birch Blundell, and Dr. Susan Eischeid. She is committed to fostering a supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to explore their musical potential and develop the skills necessary for success in a variety of musical contexts.
