About

Spencer Silverthorne is the Assistant Professor of English at University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where he teaches poetry, editing, and composition. He is also the Faculty Advisor for The Aurochs, a student-run publication that features fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art by UNC Pembroke students. Dr. Silverthorne’s chapbook Premium Brawn was a finalist for the Bateau Press Keel Chapbook Prize, and his poetry has been nominated twice for the Best of the Net Anthology. His poetry and nonfiction also has been published in Black Warrior Review, Blue Earth Review, Dialogist, Dream Pop Journal, Gigantic Sequins, Pelican Brief, Sundog Lit, and others. Dr. Silverthorne earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Kenyon College, a master of fine arts degree in Poetry from the University of New Orleans, and a doctorate degree in English and Creative Writing from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He has also been invited to write and present his work at the Vermont Studio Center, Modern Languages Association, Tin House, and Juniper Summer Writing Institute.
