About
Dr. Tracy L. Mulvaney embarked on her academic journey with a passion for education and leadership. She began her higher education journey by earning an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Respiratory Therapy from Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Mulvaney continued her studies at the University of Arizona, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Rehabilitation/Special Education and a Master of Arts (MA) in Special Education. Her dedication to education and leadership culminated in earning a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona.
With over 20 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Mulvaney has established herself as a passionate and results-driven administrator. Her career began as a teacher and chair of the Special Education Department at Kyrene del Pueblo Middle School in the Kyrene School District, Chandler, AZ. She later served as the Principal and Director of Alternative Education for the Florence Unified School District, Florence, AZ.
Dr. Mulvaney's expertise in higher education leadership flourished during her tenure at Central Arizona College in Coolidge, AZ, where she held roles as Professor of Education, Lead Faculty, and Chair. She then transitioned to Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, where she excelled as an Assistant Dean, Acting Dean, Interim Program Director, and Interim Department Chair. In January of 2024, Dr. Mulvaney began her tenure as the Dean of the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where she also serves as an Associate Professor in Educational Leadership.
Dr. Mulvaney's areas of expertise are vast and include instructional facilitation, team and committee leadership, program planning and development, innovation implementation, administrative operations, student engagement and retention, focused inquiry and research, and accreditation. She is skilled in academic guidance, grant writing, resource and budget management, multidisciplinary collaboration, transformative education, assessment accreditation, and educational leadership. Dr. Mulvaney is a seasoned accreditation leader, having successfully led multiple accreditation efforts for programs such as CAEP, CACREP, and CAA and serves as a site review team member for both CAEP and Middle States. She has also contributed to strategic planning and assessment leadership at various institutions, ensuring compliance with national standards and improving program recognition.
Her commitment to education extends globally, having taught as a Professor of English in a professor exchange program at Northeastern University in Shenyang, China. Dr. Mulvaney has also led international study abroad courses in China and England.
Dr. Mulvaney has numerous publications, many with doctoral students in Educational Leadership programs. She has presented her research and program innovations at local, state, national, and international conferences. Her work has been recognized in various keynote presentations and workshops, showcasing her contributions to the field of education.
Dr. Mulvaney is dedicated to issues relating to diversity and social justice, with over two decades of experience in highly diverse regions. She continues to advocate for inclusive education practices and community partnerships, fostering environments where all students can thrive.
