Dr. William Stewart Thomas is the Associate Professor of Accounting and Finance of the School of Business and former Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Dr. Thomas joined UNCP in 2001 following an 18 year career in industry working the majority of that period for Eaton Corporation as Core Business Controller over North American and European operations. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of North Carolina and holds a PhD in Information Technology Management.

Dr. Thomas has served as the Event Chairman / Co-Chair of the Scotland County Relay for Life since inception in 1996. He has served on Hospice of Scotland County's Board of Directors since 2001, is a member of the Scotland Health Care System Strategic Planning Committee, and is treasurer of Centre Presbyterian Church. Stewart and his wife, Carol are longtime residents of Scotland County.  Stewart has one son, Chris, who is now in his a surgery resident at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.  He has two stepchildren, Amanda who is a third grade reading teacher in Scotland County, and Andrew who works for Hagler Farms in Scotland County.
