About

Dr. Ren earned his PhD in Transportation and Logistics from North Dakota State University (NDSU), where he was honored with the NDSU Graduate School Research Award and the International Association of Chinese Infrastructure Professionals (IACIP) Outstanding Graduate Student Award.

His research interests lie in developing computational models, artificial intelligence algorithms, and leveraging sensing technologies to tackle real-world challenges in areas such as supply chain and transportation asset management, roadway and railway safety, pavement preservation and maintenance, autonomous vehicles, freight mobility, and various other critical transportation and supply chain applications.

Dr. Ren's teaching philosophy emphasizes intentional course design to create a cohesive learning experience that prioritizes high-level learning objectives and real-world applications. As an instructor, he aims to be a learning facilitator rather than just a content expert, focusing on student learning outcomes over mere content delivery.
