UNC Pembroke's online course evaluation is a survey officially approved by Faculty Senate, and the procedures are governed by the Faculty Handbook and Graduate Faculty Handbook at UNCP.
Every semester, the Student Evaluation of Instruction (SEI) and Graduate Course Analysis (GCA) are administered by the Office of Institutional Research. SEI is a university-wide survey of students' perceptions and opinions of the instruction they received, while GCA provides data on the effectiveness of graduate courses.
This evaluation is anonymous, and there will be no identifying information attached to the survey when submitted. Instructors will not see the results until the course is completed and the final grade is posted. Results will be reported at the group level, not an individual level. Institutional Research will share survey results only with the instructor, their department chair, the dean, and the Provost’s Office. The results are useful for instructors and administrators to understand students' classroom experiences and their concerns for teaching and learning. Some courses are excluded since the evaluation process is not applicable to them, e.g. individual study, internship, writing lab, thesis/dissertation research, independent study, study abroad, exchange, practicum, clinical, and military courses. Exclusions are approved by the Deans.
UNCP students and instructors will receive notifications with the survey link when the evaluations are open for completion. The survey can also be accessed by logging in to the CourseEval® portal or in the Canvas® portal using the below links.
