- The STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AND CREATIVITY SYMPOSIUM (SNCURS), hosted by The University of North Carolina Wilmington on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
- Colleges, universities and community colleges in North Carolina host a symposium each year to showcase N.C. undergraduate student research and creative work. SNCURCS provides undergraduate scholars in all fields a forum to share the results of their work through posters, presentations, performances, and works of art. For 2022, there is no registration fee.
- Students can submit their abstracts HERE. Abstracts are due by 11:59 p.m., October 26, 2022. Afterwards, student presenters, faculty mentors, administrators, and other guests can register for SNCURCS HERE. Registration must be completed by 11:59 p.m., November 7, 2022.
- The Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) will take place in-person, Nov. 9-12 in Anaheim, California. A few among you who are in the RISE program will attend in person. ABRCMS 2022 will also feature a virtual component so the rest will participate online.
- The 119th Annual Meeting of the North Carolina Academy of Science will be hosted by East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, March 31st - April 1st 2023.
- The theme for the 2023 meeting will be Careers, and there will have representatives from a variety of graduate and professional programs, as well the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry to meet with you to discuss the career paths available for students with scientific backgrounds.
- The registration and abstract submission deadline is March 3rd, 2023.
- The 62nd SOT (Society of Toxicology) Annual Meeting and ToxExpo is on Nasheville, TN, Sunday March 19-Thursday March 23
- Undergraduate students receive free registration to the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo by sending a completed Registration Form and copy of their student ID to the SOT Registration Department. Undergraduates also are eligible for many awards that recognize research and provide travel support, such as the SOT Undergraduate Research Award. SOT will accept faxed Registration Forms until March 16. Online registration will be open until March 23rd, 2023

Th Undergraduate Education program takes place on Sunday March 19. This daylong program introduces undergraduates to topics in various toxicology disciplines. This program features three scientific presentations about diverse toxicological research and a case study that provides an opportunity for students to explore and interpret data. Students also meet with graduate students and academic program directors to learn how to submit strong graduate school applications and the merits of specific graduate programs, as well as how to succeed in graduate school. During the program, students are given the opportunity to network with SOT mentors and toxicologists in various employment sectors to become more familiar with what life is like in different career paths in toxicology. Lastly, students will meet with toxicology graduate program directors from across the US. -
