About

Dr. Elizabeth Fain is the program director for the MSOT program at UNCP. Elizabeth (“Beth”) Fain, EdD, OTR/L, FAOTA, is an occupational therapy educator who earned her Doctor of Education degree in 2014 from University of St. Augustine Allied Health Sciences. She received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy at Medical College of Georgia in 1981, her Master of Health Sciences at Medical University of South Carolina in 1989, and Education Specialist at Appalachian State University in 2009. In April 2021 she was presented with the Roster of Fellows Award, one of the most prestigious honors given by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).  

Dr. Fain has had a fun, illustrious, fulfilling career as a clinician and academician, and various administrative roles with various accomplishments. Some of these accomplishments include building future successful occupational therapy practitioners on how to critically think and deliver evidence-based therapy treatments. She loves creative project development whether it is for teaching, therapy sessions or leisure projects. She has provided innovative education resulting in teaching awards. She has also published a variety of articles, research, and chapters for textbooks. Her article on "Comparative study of millennials' (age 20-34 years) grip and lateral pinch with the norms" has achieved top 5% research on the altmetric data https://www.altmetric.com/details/8709941 .

Dr. Fain is passionate about occupational therapy and is committed to passing the passion torch to future occupational therapy practitioners.
