About
Dr. Shannon Cousineau, LCSW, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work within the College of Health Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Dr. Cousineau is currently serving as the Coordinator of the Criteria C program in the Department of Social Work.
Dr. Cousineau has more than 25 years of social work practice with people across the lifespan and holds full clinical licensure in North Carolina, with previous licensure 5 other jurisdictions. Dr. Cousineau continues clinical practice through supervision to provisionally licensed social workers. In addition to her practice experience and teach responsibilities, Dr. Cousineau serves on several Social Work Department, College of Health Sciences, and UNCP committees. She is a member of the Society for Spirituality & Social Work, North American Association of Christian Social Workers, Social Work Hospice and Palliative Care Network, and the Society for Social Work and Research. Dr. Cousineau is also a member of the Robeson County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) of Red Springs.
Dr. Cousineau’s research focuses on the intersection of spirituality and social work education and practice. Additional research interests include crisis intervention and social work, simulations in social work education and experiences of families and children with chronic complex medical needs.
