Closing Reception: Saturday, March 16 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. with the awards ceremony at 12:30 p.m.

The A.D. Gallery invites you to celebrate the 43rd annual juried exhibition for regional high school students. This show is designed to offer a professionally organized gallery exhibition to artistically accomplished high school students. The exhibition celebrates and rewards student talent and recognizes art teachers for their encouragement and effective teaching skills.
Submission Information
Eligibility
The competition is open to all current regional North Carolina and South Carolina high school students who can deliver their artwork to the gallery during the drop off dates. Please speak with your art instructor, as they may be dropping off work for the entire class.
Entry Procedure
Entries are typically selected by local art instructors and are hand-delivered to our campus. We ask that schools with multiple instructors work together to select the best work from each school. Accordingly, the limit of submissions for one school is 20 entries.
The entry form for schools is downloadable as a word file at the bottom of this page. The form should contain information for each piece of artwork submitted. This information should also be duplicated on the back of each artwork for identification. It is suggested that you make a copy of the completed entry form and cut out this information from the copy to tape directly to the back of each artwork. If you plan to submit work, send an email to adgallery@uncp.edu by February 1, 2024 (subject: UNCP 43rd Annual Juried High School Exhibition).
Delivery & Pick-up
Entries will be accepted from Monday, February 19 - Saturday, February 24, 2024. Drop off all submissions directly at our gallery before 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 24.
If you are dropping off work on Monday-Saturday during gallery hours, please see the gallery assistant on duty or Monday-Friday between 9am-4pm, please contact Nicole Beverly at (910) 521-6216 or Nicole.beverly@uncp.edu, or during open studio hours on Tuesday-Saturday, contact Sam Speir at 910.775.4276 or samuel.speir@uncp.edu. For the gallery hours and directions, please go to https://www.uncp.edu/departments/art/ad-gallery/gallery-information. Any work completed by high school students since February 2023 is eligible.
After the work is juried, the selected artwork will be placed in the gallery and artwork that is not accepted will be also stored for the duration of the exhibition. All artworks may be picked up from Saturday, March 16 – 23. All other remaining work can only be stored at our gallery until Thursday, March 28. Unfortunately, all artworks left remaining after March 28, 2024, will have to be discarded.
Reception & Awards
We encourage you all to plan to visit the gallery prior to the closing reception. The reception and announcing of awards will be hosted in our gallery space on Saturday, March 16 from 11:00 a.m. – 1 p.m. The gallery will be open for viewing on that day at 10 a.m. until it closes at 4 p.m.
Framing and Presentation
All two-dimensional work submitted must be either framed, wired, or matted in such a way that it can be hung safely for the duration of the exhibition. Extremely cheap poster frames are discouraged, as they often have very fragile cardboard mounts. If the gallery staff determines the work is not safe for display, it will be disqualified and kept in storage until after the reception with the rest of the work. This standard applies for all work that must be displayed on a wall. All other three-dimensional work must be self-supporting or able to be place on a pedestal.
