Our Mission: Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) strives to provide professional administration for the design and construction of capital improvement projects.*
PDC is dedicated to improving and expanding all physical facilities in support of the teaching, research, and service missions of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
PDC, operating with delegated authority to administer the campus's capital project coordination (CPC) process, seeks to accomplish this by providing timely and efficient professional services in a fiscally sound manner throughout all phases of project development.
Also, PDC further strives to insure that each design for a new or renovated facility provides a safe and accessible environment for the public while complying with state and federal codes and regulations.
For more information about PDC, call 910.521.6374 or visit us in the Walter J. Pinchbeck (Facilities Management) Building.
*Note: The State of North Carolina defines a capital improvement as including real property acquisition, new construction or rehabilitation of existing facilities, and repairs and renovations. Reference NCGS 143C-1-1(d)(5). The definition of construction and renovation work, for which the State Construction Office has oversight on State buildings, is defined in the Permits Section of the General Statutes (NCGS 153A-357) and the State Building Code. On State projects, permits require an approval letter for the design of the project. The State Construction Office’s scope of work for which permits are required includes construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, relocation to another site, removal, or demolition of any building. This also includes the installation, extension or general repair of any plumbing, heating, cooling or electrical systems. Reference State Construction Manual, Section 101.
