Accounting, B.S.
The objective of the B.S. in Accounting is to prepare graduates for entry-level positions whether in Public, Corporate, or Governmental Accounting or to continue further study in graduate school. The course offerings provide students with the knowledge and requirements to sit for the CPA exam in North Carolina upon graduation.

American Indian Studies (AIS), B.A.
The American Indian Studies (AIS) major offers an interdisciplinary education providing both breadth of knowledge about the extensive diversity of Native peoples throughout the Americas, and specific courses concerning regional Southeastern Indian peoples. With the option of focusing in three areas – Peoples and Histories, Social and Cultural Issues, Stories and Literatures – or creating a General focus from courses within the other three focus areas, AIS majors may tailor their studies toward a specific area of interest while also taking required core courses.

Business Administration, B.S.
Business Administration Concentrations are entirely online for those unable to meet face-to-face. Business Administration majors must choose a track in Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business, Management, or Marketing. Students who want to study more than one track must complete all requirements for each, plus at least 12 additional unduplicated hours for the second track. A minimum of 50% of the semester hours in the Business major must be taken at UNCP.
Prospective students are strongly encouraged to consult a faculty member as soon as possible. It is best to begin planning early to follow the courses in the necessary order.

Birth-Kindergarten Education (B-K), B.S.
Recent research has led to an ever-growing awareness of the importance of the early years in human development. At the national and state levels, there is an increasing emphasis on the need for quality, inclusive programs to serve infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
Our program is designed to prepare educators to work with children with and without disabilities. The program is inclusive, interdisciplinary, and leads to one of the newest teacher licensure areas authorized in North Carolina.

Criminal Justice, B.A.
All students intending to pursue the Criminal Justice Degree online must ensure that they transfer all of UNCP's General Education requirements (including two hours of physical education) to complete the degree online. UNCP will offer all of the Sociology or Criminal Justice courses required for the online degree, but non-major courses are not necessarily offered online.

Interdisciplinary Studies, B.I.S.
With UNC Pembroke's BIS degree program, your Associate's degree or a sizeable number of university transfer credits (45 hours or more) provides the gateway to a bachelor's degree and a rewarding career in your area of choice. Because this degree means that you are no longer limited in continuing your education, the BIS allows you to move forward with your educational goals.
Since all BIS majors are available at UNC Pembroke's main campus, and many have online degree options, a BIS will provide you with the scheduling flexibility that adult learners often need.

RN-BSN
The RN-BSN completion option is designed for registered nurses who wish to earn a baccalaureate nursing degree. Building on competencies attained by the registered nurse, the program extends the student’s knowledge, skills, attitudes, and scope of practice for expanded career opportunities, enhances personal and professional satisfaction, and develops a foundation for further study in graduate nursing education.
Currently ranked 5th in the entire southern region of the US by Best Value Schools, the UNC-Pembroke RN-BSN program is known for its effectiveness and seamless transition for students. Courses are offered and completed online in eight-week-long sessions. Students can decide whether to complete our program within 12 months (accelerated) or use our self-paced option. Students who attend part-time can complete the program in approximately two years.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
The online MSN program provides registered nurses, with a baccalaureate degree, with an opportunity to build expertise in a specialized area of practice while enhancing their skills in theory and research in professional practice.
The degree requires 39 semester hours of graduate level coursework delivered in an online format. Coursework is offered with majority coursework online plus required practicums.
Students may enroll as either full-time or part-time students. Full-time students can expect to complete their degree in a little over two years through an individualized plan of study. All full-time and part-time students must complete all degree requirements within five (5) calendar years of the date of the first registration for graduate study.
Specific specialty areas offered include the roles of Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Leader℠, and Clinical Prevention and Population Health.

The mission of the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke is to prepare students for professional, competent social work practice within an Advanced Generalist model. Master of Arts in Teaching with Specialization in Special Education, M.A.T. (Accelerated)
The Master of Arts in Teaching with a specialization in Special Education allows students to continue their studies after earning a bachelor's degree and make an initial teaching license for Special Education General Curriculum, grades K-12. Our program prepares students to implement research-based instruction for K-12 public school students with mild to moderate disabilities that access the general curriculum, North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS). Our MAT Special Education program is a 30-hour program offered online.

This degree, compatible with Lateral Entry licensure, allows graduates of accredited colleges or universities to seek teaching licensure in an appropriate area. This program has two phases; completion of Phase I leads to initial ("A") licensure, and at the conclusion of Phase II candidates will be recommended for "M" licensure. The mathematics 6-9 Specialization accepts candidates with undergraduate degrees other than mathematics, though admission may require completion of some provisional mathematics coursework.
Students who are not currently teaching at a public school will be required to complete a 10 week internship.
All MAT students must complete the Teacher Candidate Work Sample (TCWS) as part of their licensure requirements.

Masters of Art in Education (M.A.Ed) - Elementary Education (Accelerated)
The mission of the master’s program in elementary education is to prepare the experienced teacher for full participation in their chosen profession as leader, researcher, and master practitioner. The program is offered for practicing teachers that hold an Initial Professional Teaching License in elementary education. Individuals who complete the Graduate Elementary Education Program are eligible for a master's level teaching license (M license) through the NC State Board of Education. Two years of full-time teaching experience is recommended, but not required.

The M.A.T. with Art Education program prepares art education professionals with skills and understanding to teach art in K-12 School settings. Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Science Education - Middle Grades and 9-12
This program is for applicants who do not have a teaching license but would like to earn licensure as they earn their master's degree. In addition to the application, fee, and transcripts, applicants need:
- Names of two professional references, including one school administrator (if applicable)
A GPA of 2.75 or higher (4.0 scale) for full admission. Applicants with a GPA below 2.75 may be considered for conditional admission. - As a part of the application process, applicants are required to submit a 150-250 word statement detailing their goals, teaching philosophy, and connection to the MAT program. Please include a brief discussion of your current teaching assignment in your statement of purpose.
- A passing score on the Praxis II, an appropriate degree in the content area, or 24 hours of undergraduate or graduate science coursework
- Names of two professional references, including one school administrator (if applicable)

Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) - Reading Education
The program is designed for classroom and reading teachers to prepare them as leaders in the field of literacy instruction and as reading specialists. Since the program builds on the knowledge base and experience of the practitioner, teachers who enter the M.A.Ed. must have professional teacher licensure. This is a 36-hour program that will enable teachers to develop expertise in the teaching of reading, the diagnosis and remediation of problems and the development of successful reading programs. Teachers will also have opportunities to develop leadership competence in the design, delivery and assessment of reading and services. The Reading Education program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by the North Carolina State Board of Education.

Our Master of Arts in Teaching in Birth to Kindergarten is just the program for you if you want to achieve your goal and want to do it online! Prospective candidates should have a four-year bachelor's degree. This program is for applicants who do not have a teaching license but would like to earn licensure as they earn their master's degree. Program culminates in a semester-long internship that must be completed in an NC preschool setting.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) - Fully Online
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is designed for nurses seeking a terminal degree in nursing practice and offers an alternative to research-focused doctoral programs. A DNP in Population Health provides leadership in community, academic, and acute health care settings in the development of responses to existing health threats, as well as creating proactive approaches to mitigating future threats to the health of populations.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A. Ed)
The Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is designed to assist graduate students in the development of competencies necessary for functioning in the role of professional counselor in a variety of settings. The program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) and meets the standards established by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors for Professional Counselor licensure (LCMHC) and the National Board of Certified Counselors’ standards for national certification as a professional counselor (NCC).

Certificate in Addictions Counseling
The Graduate Certificate in Addictions Counseling (GCAC) is designed to prepare students for addiction-specific professional counseling careers, leadership roles, and advocacy positions. The 12-credit hour GCAC program is offered exclusively online and prepares students to meet the increasingly complex needs of individuals and families dealing with addictive use disorders. The curriculum includes coursework in substance-related and addictive use disorders, comorbid conditions, methods and theories of addiction-specific assessments and interventions, psychopharmacology and addiction, the family impact of substance disorders, and current issues and special populations in addiction. The online certificate program meets the North Carolina Addictions Specialists Professional Practice Board (NCASPPB) educational requirements for the Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) application.

Play Therapy Graduate Certificate
The Play Therapy Graduate Certificate is an online program, and students must attend live class meetings on Zoom throughout the semester from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm. The curriculum includes coursework in (1) history, contemporary theories, and clinical applications of play therapy, (2) an advanced study of child development, and (3) methods of supporting parents, caregivers, and families. The program emphasizes play therapy techniques for various mental health issues, including supporting children who have experienced trauma.

Academically & Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Education - Add-On Licensure (Undergraduate)
The Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) licensure program at UNCP will prepare candidates to teach students with academic and/or intellectual gifts in the K-12 environment. Completers are eligible for the add-on AIG license. The program's focus is designed to provide candidates with the latest knowledge of theory and practice and to prepare highly trained teachers to utilize these theories and practices in working with AIG students.

Preschool Add-On Licensure (Undergraduate)
The Preschool Add-On License, adopted in 2000, is available only to teachers with clear licenses in elementary education, special education, or family and consumer sciences. It prepares teachers to work with children from 3 to 5 years of age in inclusive settings, with and without disabilities, and with their families.
