Broadway’s Original Hairspray Stars Reunite at GPAC March 5

They first captured audiences' hearts while originating the roles of Tracy, Penny and Amber in the Tony Award-winning musical Hairspray. Now, more than 20 years later, Tony Award-winner Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony nominees Kerry Butler and Laura Bell Bundy reunite on stage at the Givens Performing Arts Center at UNC Pembroke on March 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Their show, Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now, celebrates two decades of Broadway hits, motherhood and lifelong friendship in an evening filled with music, humor and heartfelt storytelling.
Tickets range from $35 to $45 for adults, with children's tickets available for $15.
Broadway World calls the show “a laugh-a-minute,” and New York Stage Review calls it “a salute to one of life's greatest pleasures – friendship!”
With 16 Broadway shows and over 300 episodes of television between them, this trio has truly done it all! From Beetlejuice to Big Brother, Mean Girls to Legally Blonde, Dancing with the Stars to Beauty and the Beast, Wicked to Gypsy and even the Country Music Awards!
Marissa Jaret Winokur also starred in Celebrity Big Brother and the films Scary Movie and American Beauty. Kerry Butler has appeared in TV shows such as Law & Order, The Gilmore Girls, and The Mindy Project. Laura Bell Bundy appeared in Jumanji, the TV show Anger Management and Broadway tours of Legally Blonde.
More than a reunion, Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now is a celebration of enduring friendship, shared success and the songs that helped define a generation of Broadway fans.
