Freshmen Connor Blake and Angela Rowson are the 2023 Brody Early Assurance Scholars at UNC Pembroke, granting admission to one of the top medical programs in North Carolina. The UNCP pair have been guaranteed spots in the 2027 entering class at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

UNCP alumna Taliyah Daniels selected as Presidential Scholar

Taliyah Daniels, a 2023 graduate and former SGA president at UNC Pembroke, has been selected as a Presidential Scholar for the UNC System for the 2023-2024 academic year. Daniels was among three recent graduates of UNC System institutions selected for the prestigious program. Presidential Scholars provide a wide range of professional functions for the system office.

UNCP announces Chancellor’s, Honors list for Spring 2023

PEMBROKE, NC – The University of North Carolina at Pembroke has released the Chancellor’s list and Honors list for Spring 2023. Chancellor’s List To qualify for the Chancellor’s List, a student must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.7 (out of 4.0) while taking at least 12 semester hours; none of the 12 hours may be Pass/Fail.

UNCP’s Katie Manueles selected to ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll

UNC Pembroke junior Katie Aguilar Manueles has received national recognition as part of the 2023 ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll for her efforts in driving voter registration, education and turnout on their campuses. Manueles was among 175 college students selected from participating campuses nationwide. Last year’s midterm elections saw one of the highest youth voter turnouts in a midterm election in the last 40 years.

UNCP names Spirit of Old Main Scholarship recipients

The Curt and Catherine Locklear American Indian Heritage Center at UNC Pembroke has announced the second cohort of the Spirit of Old Main Scholars. The Spirit of Old Main Scholarship was established in 2022 to reduce financial barriers to postsecondary education for highly competitive American Indian students. The 2023-2034 academic year recipients are Shicoria Chavis and Destiny Locklear, both of Red Springs High, and Kylie Cummings of Purnell Swett High. They are all members of the Lumbee Tribe.
